In 1976 a group of dinghy sailing enthusiasts leased a plot of land on Calshot Spit as the base for a new sailing club. Back then the only facilities was an underground air raid shelter. The ladies and gents had to take it in turns to get changed in this one damp room with only spiders for company.

After a few years of this spartan existence, the members obtained a grant from Sport England to build a proper club house with such luxuries as hot showers, toilets and separate changing rooms. A range of club boats are available for as little as £10 per session, and the club  has its own slipway directly into the Solent offering a fantastic sailing venue.  

Fifty years on Calshot Sailing Club is a small friendly club that welcomes people of all abilities.We will be celebrating this on the 13 June with a  50^th anniversary party - please drop in and talk to our members about sailing with us, whether you're a newbie or a grizzled seadog! There is racing planned for 10.00 then a BBQ at 1.00pm

If the Solent is a bit too lively there is the option of the calmer waters of the Lagoon behind the spit. And there's always something interesting on the horizon, whether you're in a boat or basking at the club.
